Data & AI Engineer
CAIA Cosmetics is a Stockholm-based global beauty brand, founded in 2018 by beauty industry veterans and experts in social media and content. We create high-performing, top-quality products at accessible price points, always crafted with intention and grounded in our Scandinavian heritage of effortlessness, warmth and clean design.
Driven by an entrepreneurial and creative spirit, CAIA blends quality and expertise with creativity and entertainment to make beauty feel inspiring, joyful and easy to use. Our world is aspirational yet attainable - rooted in access, community, inclusivity and our signature “effortless glow.”
ABOUT THE JOB
Every decision at CAIA, from which shade to restock to which campaign to scale or which market to grow, starts with data. Our data platform turns orders, ad spend and retail sales into numbers the whole company can trust, and our AI assistants let colleagues ask those numbers questions directly.
We’re looking for a Data & AI Engineer to join our Tech team. Reporting to our CTO, you’ll work with marketing, finance and operations to build and run the data pipelines, services and AI tooling behind CAIA’s reporting and analytics. From modelling sales data in Dataform to deploying an MCP server that lets AI assistants query BigQuery, you'll help ensure everyone at CAIA works from figures that are correct, documented and on time.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career or with a couple of years of experience who writes solid SQL, enjoys clean and tested code, builds with AI every day, and wants to own real production systems at a fast-growing brand.
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and maintain data models in Dataform and BigQuery – incremental models, assertions, and cost-aware partitioning and clustering.
Ingest data from our source systems – e-commerce, advertising platforms, ERP and retail partners – into BigQuery, with scheduling, alerting and backfills.
Write and deploy Python or TypeScript services on Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler) with correct IAM, secrets and logging.
Work with marketing, finance and operations to turn vague business questions into precise data questions and reliable data models.
Build, deploy and maintain MCP servers on Cloud Run that connect AI assistants to our data – with authentication, least-privilege IAM, secrets and monitoring.
Keep our semantic layer answerable for AI – define metrics once, write table and column descriptions, catalog entries and test questions, and fix wrong answers at the source.
Use coding agents (e.g. Claude Code) as your default way of building – write clear task specs, review the output critically and ship tested code through pull requests and CI/CD.
Support the whole organisation in building up its AI toolset – setting up assistants and connectors, and helping teams put AI to work in their daily tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL SKILLS
A university degree (BSc or MSc) in computer science, software engineering, data engineering, information systems or equivalent.
Up to around two years of experience in data or software engineering – internships, thesis work and serious side projects count.
Solid SQL – joins, window functions, data grain and incremental models.
Hands-on coding in Python or TypeScript; you can write, test and debug a small service on your own.
Exposure to a cloud platform, ideally Google Cloud.
An AI-native way of working – you use coding agents daily and know when not to trust their output.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to explain what you built, and why, to non-technical colleagues.
Curiosity, a quick learning curve and comfort in a fast-paced environment.
Fluent Swedish and English.
IT'S A PLUS IF YOU HAVE
Production experience with BigQuery, and with Dataform or dbt.
Experience with dimensional modelling and data quality testing.
An understanding of containers, service accounts, least-privilege access and basic networking.
Experience in e-commerce, retail or consumer brands.
Experience building or integrating LLM-based tooling – MCP, function calling or agents. Side projects count.
WHY CAIA?
At CAIA, you'll be part of one of Scandinavia's most exciting and fast-growing beauty brands, working in a creative, collaborative and dynamic environment where ideas come to life, and where you'll have the opportunity to grow your skills while contributing to products loved by customers around the world.
If you're passionate about data, code and AI, take pride in getting the numbers right and want to build the data and AI platform behind a fast-growing beauty brand, we'd love to hear from you. Send us your application and let's continue building CAIA's story together.
